NaruSaku Oneshot

One Sweltering Summer Afternoon…

Sakura sat against a tree and stared absently at the sky, and only one thought ran through her head,

‘Dang, it’s hot…’

She scanned the lakeside, with a few of Konoha (and Suna’s) own running around.

Kiba and Akamaru were right at home at the place, and poor Hinata was stuck trying to keep them from bothering others too terribly much.

Ino was trying to get a tan and explain to Sai the importance of sunscreen.

Temari was lecturing Shikamaru over on another side of the beach about something probably regarding Shikamaru’s the frequent use of “troublesome” and “woman”. Temari then proceeded to whack Shikamaru with her fan. She was obviously immune to the heat, as she lived in a desert.

The pink-haired girl sighed. She briefly contemplated jumping in the lake, but the sun had sapped her energy, and continued to as the heat rolled off the sun in waves, and she felt a wave of laziness spread over her.

And then the heard footsteps running towards her.

“Surprise, Sakura-chan!” A Naruto Uzumaki grinned.

As he dumped a cold bucket of water over the kunoichi’s head.

Sakura felt the water soak her scalp and trickle down the side of her face and neck. Her hair was plastered to her face, and the water still dripped as she rumbled a threatening,

“Narutoooooo!”

Naruto’s grin faltered, he squeezed his eyes shut and his body clenched up in anticipation for the inevitable punch.

But, surprise, surprise, it never came. Sakura just smiled and Naruto just felt something soft graze his cheek gently. The two’s faces flushed. Sakura grinned, however, while Naruto’s eyes flashed open and he just held his hand up to his cheek in awe. Sakura kissed him? His blush deepened about three shades.

Sakura turned away from him, back to facing the lake, a grin still plastered on her lips. Yes, Naruto was certainly a knuckleheaded ninja, but he was her knucklehead ninja.
